Mindy Moore

Artist’s Bio ~

Mindy Moore is an abstract artist living and painting in Northwest Florida. She’s called this area home for over twenty years and was recently named Walton County’s 2025 Artist of the Year. Her work can be found exclusively at Ria Leigh Gallery in Grayton Beach, Florida.

Originally from Tennessee, Moore earned a BFA from Middle Tennessee State University. After graduation, she made the move to Florida where she now lives with her two beautiful children.  She’s been actively involved with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County since 2019.  Over the years, her work has been on exhibit at the Foster Gallery, Emerald Coast Theater Company, and J Leon Gallery. She has taught painting classes in her community, volunteered her time, and most recently, sat on the judges panel for ArtsQuest 2025.

Other notable awards include a Best of Show ribbon in the members’ tent at ArtsQuest 2023 and People’s Choice at the Foster Gallery in 2020.

Using art as a therapeutic outlet, Moore’s creative process is intuitive and free-flowing, reflecting her belief in the healing power of self-expression. By immersing herself in her work, she discovers new dimensions of her own thoughts and feelings.

Artist’s Statement ~

I work to capture the ephemeral: the shape of thought. I blend color, texture, and gesture to give substance to the inner workings of the mind. Thoughts are fluid, sometimes chaotic, other times serene and my paintings are a reflection of this constant flux.

Creating is not just an artistic act for me—it is deeply therapeutic. It’s a way to confront and process emotions, to turn the intangible into something tangible and, in doing so, find clarity. Through spontaneous brushstrokes, layers of paint, and intuitive mark-making, I navigate the complexities of my own psyche.
